Women's Leggings Size Guide India: L, XL, XXL — How to Choose the Right Size

Buying leggings online and not sure which size to pick? This complete size guide covers L, XL, and XXL with measurements in inches and cm, plus tips for getting the perfect fit.

Buying leggings online and not sure whether to pick L, XL, or XXL? You're not alone — sizing confusion is the most common reason women hesitate before buying leggings online. This complete guide covers everything you need: how to measure correctly, the exact size chart for Thugil Tex leggings, what to do if you're between sizes, and how sizing differs across legging types.

How to Measure for Leggings

For leggings, two measurements matter: waist and hip. Use a soft measuring tape for both.

  • Waist: Stand straight and breathe normally. Measure around the narrowest part of your waist — typically just above your belly button or at the natural waistline. Keep the tape snug but not tight. Do not suck in your stomach.
  • Hip: Stand with your feet together. Measure around the fullest part of your hips and buttocks — usually 8–9 inches below your waistline. Keep the tape parallel to the floor.
  • Inseam (optional): For length reference, measure from your crotch to your ankle along the inner leg. Our standard ankle-length leggings are 38–40 inches.

Thugil Tex Leggings Size Chart

This chart applies to all Thugil Tex leggings — shimmer, cotton, churidar, high-waist, and ankle-length styles.

SizeWaist (inches)Waist (cm)Hip (inches)Hip (cm)Length (inches)
L30–32"76–81 cm38–40"97–102 cm38"
XL32–34"81–86 cm40–42"102–107 cm39"
XXL34–36"86–91 cm42–44"107–112 cm40"

* All measurements are of the garment at rest (unstretched). The 4-way stretch fabric comfortably accommodates the full range within each size bracket.

What to Do If You're Between Sizes

If your measurements fall on the boundary between two sizes — for example, a 32-inch waist which is at the top of L and the bottom of XL — we recommend sizing up. Here's why:

  • The 4-way stretch fabric means XL will comfortably accommodate a 32-inch waist without feeling loose — it will simply feel less compressive.
  • Sizing down risks the waistband feeling tight or restrictive after extended wear, particularly if you have a fuller hip-to-waist ratio.
  • The length of the leggings is also slightly longer in XL vs L — which can be preferable for taller women.

Sizing Tips by Legging Type

  • Shimmer Leggings: Follow the standard chart above. Shimmer fabric has the same stretch and recovery as our other styles at 200 GSM. If you prefer a snugger, more form-fitting shimmer look, you can size down — the shimmer fabric comfortably accommodates it.
  • Cotton Leggings: Cotton has slightly less stretch than polyester-blend fabrics. We recommend sticking to the standard size chart and not sizing down in cotton styles.
  • Churidar Leggings: Follow the standard chart. Churidar leggings are cut longer than ankle-length styles, with the excess fabric gathering at the ankle — the waist and hip measurements are the same across all styles.
  • High Waist Leggings: All Thugil Tex leggings are high-waist by construction — a 3-inch reinforced band that sits at or above the natural waist. The waist measurement in the chart refers to the natural waist, which the high-waist band covers.

Sizing for Different Body Types

  • Apple shape (broader waist, narrower hips): Choose by waist measurement. The high-waist construction will provide comfortable coverage.
  • Pear shape (narrower waist, broader hips):Choose by hip measurement. The stretch fabric accommodates the waist easily even if it's smaller than the size range.
  • Tall women:XXL tends to have the longest inseam (40 inches) and provides the most comfortable ankle-length fit for women above 5'6".
  • Petite women:L will provide the shortest inseam (38 inches). Petite women under 5'2" may find ankle-length leggings fall slightly above the ankle — which creates a cropped-ankle look that's also fashionable.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I measure my waist for leggings?

Stand straight and measure around the narrowest part of your waist (usually just above the belly button) with a soft measuring tape, keeping it snug but not tight. Don't suck in — measure at normal breath.

What if I'm between leggings sizes?

If between sizes, size up for comfort. Our leggings have 4-way stretch, so they will accommodate the larger size comfortably. Sizing down risks the waistband feeling restrictive.

Do shimmer leggings fit the same as cotton leggings?

Yes — all Thugil Tex leggings (shimmer, cotton, churidar) follow the same size chart. L fits waist 30–32", XL fits 32–34", XXL fits 34–36".

Are your leggings true to size?

Yes. Our leggings are designed to fit the measurements stated — they are not cut small. The 4-way stretch provides comfort within each size range without distorting the stated measurements.
